An Artfully Aged Dinner, Presented By Basil Hayden's
Contemporary art, bourbon cocktails, and passionate Louisvillians make for the perfect combination. M.A.D.S Gallery in the heart of the Highlands played host to Basil Hayden’s Artfully Aged Dinner on Thursday, July 27th. The gallery, which stands for “Modern Artwork, Design, and Style” has only recently arrived on Louisville’s art scene. Located next to LouVino, M.A.D.S has secured a prime spot to display the works of various contemporary artists.
The gallery was originally a vintage clothing store called Urban Attic, before the new owner, Madison Ewing, transformed the space and opened doors on March 14th of this year. She calls the gallery a “blank space for creativity”.
At the event, local artists were brought in to showcase their talent live. JD Dotson painted over a laser etched bourbon barrel, while Braylyn Resko Stewart designed a graffiti canvas from scratch. Observing the process the artists took to bring their pieces to life instilled a sense of inspiration among those attending.
The hors d’oeurves were hand-selected and served by Crushed Ice Catering, ranging from bourbon balls to cucumber mint yogurt. The salad was layered in a Basil Hayden-infused sauce, with roasted beef tenderloin, asparagus, scallop, and lobster-whipped potato for the entrée. Dessert came in the form of delicious PB&J ice cream from Comfy Cow and chocolate fondant cake.
Joey Wagner Group promoted the event, bringing in such faces as Josh Brown from the igerslouisville Instagram account and Luke Hancock, former professional basketball player and financial adviser. Everything ran smoothly and attendees left ready to talk about the latest addition to Bardstown Road.
