Life these days is very fast-paced, and one thing that is often effected by our lifestyles is our breathing habits. Believe it or not, the way we breath throughout our day has a very big effect in how we process stress and generally react toward situations. So what are we doing wrong and how can we do it better? Well, it's quite easy, really.
That fast-paced life we were talking about? It leads to quick, shallow breathing. Take a moment to pay attention to how you're breathing right now? See what I mean? When we breath like this it doesn't allow our lungs to fill up to capacity and hinders the way our body absorbs oxygen. Now take a few deep breaths. You might even place your hand over your stomach to feel how it rises as you inhale. Notice the relaxation you feel and the slight euphoria that comes over you. Deep breathing can really increase your joy.
So tomorrow morning when you wake up, take some deep breaths and be intentional with your breathing every hour throughout the day. You'll feel better, you'll think better, and you'll be more productive.
